GAERLAN CLAN (part 1)
I will just free write today because I am in my classroom while blogging this, high risk of getting fired but what the heck! It's my lunchtime, hehehe. I just found myself... my roots... my family this morning. Thanks to this technology called the internet. I wanted so long to create a historical account or genealogy of my family, no need, Art Gaerlan did the job for the Gaerlan clan.

I woke up this morning with a message from my Dumlao_Gaerlan@yahoogroups.com e-group account that Art Gaerlan was finally welcomed to our small family of Dumlao_Gaerlan. Funny that several days ago, Tito Jojo was asking us if he, as the e-group moderator, would accept a request from a certain gaerlanx@yahoo.com to join our family e-group. After finding out that he isn't a spammer and that he is indeed from the family, we gladly welcomed him. We were surprised to know that Art is working as the family historian, tracing all the Gaerlans around the world, creating a huge network of the Gaerlan Family all over the world. This is what you can call "labor of love", I bet he isn't paid for doing this for the family, it's the passion of knowing where his family came from.

After feeling so alone as a new comer here in the US thinking that I had no relatives here, I suddenly felt connected with more than 250 Gaerlans around the world....this is just the Friendster count. The "Gaerlan" surname is not a common name, so we're sure that in one way or another, we are interrelated. In the Gaerlan profile it reads:
"I bet most of you do not know much about your family history. Ever wonder if your family is the only torch bearer of the Gaerlan surname? We thought so. But apparently there are Gaerlans scattered everywhere. Our roots are from the Philippine Islands--mainly San Juan, Baguio, and Pangasinan. I hope this account will help find undiscovered relations and bring our small and unique Gaerlan clan together."

The Family Tree up in the web is sooo impressive! It feels so good to know my roots, and would be more excited if I could meet some of them. I never knew any of the Gaerlans except for my 1st degree cousins, we were never introduced to our distant relatives, and we seldom visited them in Dagupan. Thanks to Friendster, and to Art, who made knowing ourselves and our family possible.
Thanks for letting me know about this Marisol! Who knew I would meet another Gaerlan through blogging? I will also inform my Mom and her siblings about this site.

hi! nikki here again from your other blog... my aunt (my mom's cousin) is married to a gaerlan but they are living in guam. her husband's family is from bauang, la union. i will tell her about you & your group the next time i chat w/ her. yes i have a blog too... it's at www.babydoc27.blogspot.com. i really enjoy your blog! keep on blogging!
